Bass Guitar Package With Amp

Good Guitar???????????????
I’m starting guitar next week. This is a no-name guitar…it’s impossible to tell from the description anything other than that it’s a left handed bass. I’d avoid it. Here are a couple things to consider before buying any guitar:
1. Even if you’re left handed, it’s not certain that you need a left handed guitar. Many left handed people have no problem learning on standard guitars. Both hands do equal work on guitar, so even for right handed players, one hand feels awkward at first. There is a much larger selection of standard guitars, so there is an advantage to playing the same kind of guitar as 99% of the rest of the world. I play in a band with two left handed people. One plays a left handed bass, the other plays a right handed guitar. They both are talented players. Before *assuming* that you need a left handed guitar, you should at least try a normal one to see what it feels like.
2. The guitar you’ve chosen is a BASS guitar. It’s not the same as a regular guitar. It has 4 strings which are tuned an octave lower and is played differently. It’s not just a 4-string guitar. If you’ve got your heart set on being a bass guitarist, then a bass guitar is appropriate….but don’t think it will be an easy way to learn guitar because it has fewer strings. It’s a different instrument…played differently with a different approach.
3. *If* your intention is to learn regular guitar, you might consider learning on acoustic first. It’s pure guitar without the electronics to distract you. Since you don’t need to purchase an amp, you can get more guitar for your money with an acoustic.
4. eBay is a horrible place to buy a guitar. Many cheap guitars are almost unplayable. You should go to a music store and try out some guitars. Even though you don’t play yet, you’ll be able to see and hear the difference in quality. You can hold the guitar and make sure it feels comfortable. If you can’t bring an experienced player with you, have the sales-person play it for you.
5. If you stick to name brands like Fender, Ibanez, Yamaha, etc, you’ll be assured of better quality.
