Is it normal to play an old 3 / 4 size violin, if you are 13 years?

Okay, I'm 4'11 2.1, 13 years old turning 14 this November. Many children younger than I already have a full size violin. (I once posted this question)

I test my students in the rule for the next size by making them keep up with the next size violin under his left arm extended straight, so that the hand bends upward at 90 degrees below the scroll. If there is at least 2-3 cm square, the student is ready for the next size. However, if the student has to keep shortish fingers to the lower Size. The bow arm must be very strong to a longer handle. It is best to trust your teacher, there is no right age for a complete instrument to move.
